Developing Resilience

ILM Recognised

How Resilient Are Your Leaders? How Resilient Is Your Organisation?

DO YOUR LEADERS HAVE THE PERSONAL SKILLS AND UNDERSTAND THE HUMAN FACTORS TO COPE WITH UNPREDICTABILITY?

The good news is that you can develop the resilience of your leaders.

This matters because every organisation needs leaders who are resilient and can cope under stress, with the unpredictable, while taking into account the human factors at play.

The reality is that, whatever their level or position, all your people in a leadership role need to be able to respond to the unpredictable aspects of their role.

Building their internal resilience to cope with the unexpected, enables them to thrive in their day to day roles, dealing better with the routine.

Yet, how many of our leaders have this resilience to cope with the unpredictable, stay focused and make clear and accountable decisions, whatever the situation facing them?

And if we are honest, Covid has made the situation worse for many organisations and their people.

WHY SHOULD YOU BE CONCERNED WITH DEVELOPING THE RESILIENCE OF YOUR LEADERS?

Resilience matters because in unplanned, challenging situations, people who lack resilience are likely to feel overwhelmed or helpless and this impacts on everything that they then do from that point forward.

However, these do not have to be a life or death situations, and will very often be situations where there is no emergency plan in place to turn to.

They might be situations that your leaders do not feel equipped to deal with, perhaps because it is new to them or perhaps because it was not something they predicted, yet they understand the implications of making the wrong decision.

As a result, they are likely to rely on negative coping mechanisms, perhaps avoiding the problem, isolating themselves and not seeking help or input, or even denying the scale of the problem.

This is when a situation that could have been managed can quickly escalate into one that is a serious issue for your leaders, the team around them and then the wider organisation.

This Developing Resilience ILM Recognised is a 24 hour programme usually delivered over 3 days of training.  We also offer shorter versions such as 0.5 day programmes to 1 or 2 days programmes.

Additionally, this can be integrated into a leadership development programme. Training can be delivered in person or as virtual workshops.

This training is delivered in conjunction with Praesidio, specialists in resilience, emergency preparedness and response.

ARE YOU LOOKING TO:

  • Develop your own leaders from within, retaining your best people?
  • Develop your managers’ decision making abilities day to day and when under pressure, sometimes extreme pressure?
  • Develop a more competence based approach to leadership development?
  • Develop a better working environment and more profitable business through a more resilient leadership and management team?
  • Be confident that your managers can handle all situations and demonstrate compliance with their legal responsibilities?
  • See a faster return on investment on leadership development?
  • Achieve this within 3 days, and avoid longer programmes of training and education?

A TRAINING PROGRAMME DESIGNED FOR THE UNPREDICTABLE

Individuals in leadership and management roles are often faced with significant additional pressure alongside their primary roles and this requires them to take decisive action.

Our training is therefore relevant to any leader who may have to deal with an unplanned or unpredictable situation that could require decisive decision making under pressure, where human factors are at play and no plan is in place to refer to.

By developing the resilience of your leaders, you can make a real difference to their confidence and competence, giving them the ability to cope with so much more.

Once they have completed this training, we can help you identify where to go from here for each leader and address any gaps with a Structured Learning Path.

GIVE YOUR LEADERS THE BEST CHANCE TO STAY IN CONTROL OF THEIR EMOTIONS, RESPOND TO HUMAN FACTORS AND MAKE SOUND DECISIONS, IN A COMPLEX OR DEMANDING SITUATION. HELP KEEP EVERYONE SAFE, COMPLIANT AND THRIVING.

  • This is exactly what our business needs.  Our people are technically very strong but when things do not go according to plan, they look to the Directors to solve it.  We can’t always be there and we need our managers to be able to make the right decision at the right time so that we either don’t need to get involved or they can maintain the situation until we can arrive

  • I believe the Developing Resilience course delivered to our needs in a number of important ways.  The overall course content made us all think about ourselves and how we affect others around about us in our daily roles. Our own individual strengths and weakness were highlighted as the course progressed, in combination with the ongoing assessment and use of the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) findings. The SDI gave us all a blueprint as to where we are all at from that perspective, and the areas that we all have to move into to be more resilient and perhaps be more understanding of our roles/peers
