Train the Trainer – Tunnock’s
Catriona was delighted to have the opportunity to be back on site at Tunnock’s to help colleagues develop their skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver training and achieve a Polaris Learning Certificate of Completion.
This was the final session in a series of Train the Trainer sessions to be held at Tunnock’s and we again focused on the core skills needed by a trainer. We looked at topics such as how to adapt to learning styles, the benefits and barriers to training, and how to identify training needs, as well as all aspects of the training cycle.
Then we turned attention to the EDIP method, how to make this work in an operational environment, and we also looked at questioning skills and effective feedback. Finally, to assess competence, each candidate was assessed carrying out a practical demonstration and instruction, and completed a knowledge assignment.
We received some fantastic feedback on the course from the candidates at the end, such as:
“Interesting, well thought out course, and the trainers were friendly and approachable”
“Felt the course was informative and helpful for us to go forward on becoming a trainer”
“Very good course with a lot of positivity”
