A huge well done to Daryn, of Cooke Aquaculture, for successfully completing his Modern Apprenticeship Qualification in Fish and Shellfish Processing Skills at SCQF Level 5! The journey wasn’t always easy, but Daryn's dedication and hard work paid off, achieving this milestone to a great standard.
Also a big congratulations to Krystian Domagala, from Aquascot. He completed his Level 3 in Food and Drink Operations in 2024, where he dealt with balancing his qualification and running production really well. Congratulations Krystian, you made it!
We have been busy with Fugro, where we have been delivering leadership training in Wallingford. It has also been busy delivering Train the Trainer to the Fugro team internationally, preparing them for the internal delivery of leadership programmes. We have also started the year off with supervisory training at Technip.
We are delighted to have had a trip to Dundee this month to help the team at Kindred Clothing map SQA Core Skills into the Kindred Clothing Customised Award in Garment Construction. We are also delighted to further develop our relationship with the team at Intervention Rentals to continue supporting with their online competency management system and providing external verification services, a bespoke presentation skills course and getting them started on Modern Apprenticeships in Management.

A key aspect of our training is the tailored support provided to each learner. Our trainers take the time to address individual challenges, ensuring that every participant leaves the session feeling more confident in their abilities.

Whether you need competency-based training, leadership development, or assessment qualifications, we ensure you leave with skills that make a tangible impact in your workplace.

Research Insights

Investing in effective training programs is crucial for organisational success. Neglecting this aspect can lead to significant hidden costs, including decreased productivity, increased turnover, and compliance issues. Implementing comprehensive Train-the-Trainer programs can mitigate these challenges and enhance overall business performance.
The Problem: The Cost of Poor Training
Ineffective training programs lead to increased mistakes, rework, and safety risks. Employees lacking proper training are more prone to errors, which can result in lost time, safety hazards, and financial setbacks. Without adequate training, employees take longer to become competent, reducing productivity and slowing overall performance. High employee frustration and disengagement can lead to turnover, which is costly for organisations. A study by Right Management found that nearly 70% of organisations reported that staff turnover has a negative financial impact due to the cost of recruiting, hiring, and training a replacement employee. Additionally, ineffective training costs companies $13.5 million per 1,000 employees annually. Time and resources spent on inefficient training programs could be better utilised elsewhere, impacting a company’s bottom line.
The Solution: Getting Trainers and Supervisors Up to Speed
Enhancing the skills of trainers and supervisors through Train-the-Trainer programs can address these issues. These programs equip trainers with the necessary skills to deliver structured, effective training that enhances knowledge retention. Practical training methodologies, such as hands-on learning techniques, help employees retain and apply knowledge more effectively. Supervisors must also learn how to engage employees, adapt to different learning styles, and provide effective feedback to ensure training is impactful. Encouraging an interactive training environment where employees can ask questions and receive immediate feedback reinforces learning and makes training more effective.
The Business Impact: Why Investing in Trainer Development Pays Off
Investing in trainer development yields significant benefits. Employees who receive structured and effective training become competent faster, reducing errors and increasing efficiency. Effective training fosters a sense of competence and value among employees, which in turn boosts morale and reduces turnover. A survey found that 94% of employees would stay at a company longer if it invested in their career development. Proper training also ensures employees adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, minimising risks and ensuring compliance. A standardised approach to training leads to uniform performance levels across teams, improving overall organisational efficiency and consistency in work quality.
The End Result: A More Productive, Profitable Business
By investing in effective training programs and developing skilled trainers, organisations can foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Employees become more engaged, confident, and capable, resulting in a highly skilled and efficient workforce. Organisations that prioritise structured training programs also gain a competitive advantage. Research has shown that companies that invest in training have a 24% higher profit margin than those that do not. A structured approach to training ensures business growth, regulatory compliance, and long-term success in the industry. Investing in comprehensive training programs not only enhances employee performance but also contributes to the organisation's long-term success.
